How to Check Accessibility in AI-Generated UI: A Designer’s Checklist
Generative interfaces may vary from screen to screen, but their keyboard, screen-reader, contrast, and status behavior must remain dependable.
AI-generated interfaces can vary in content and layout, but the accessibility contract cannot vary with them. Designers should check these basics in every generated state.
- Every task is operable with a keyboard.
- Focus moves predictably and remains visible.
- Controls have an accessible name, role, and current state.
- Text and essential visual signals meet contrast requirements.
- Dynamic results and errors are announced without stealing focus.
- People have an equivalent path when a generated component fails or is unclear.
Test real variations, including long labels, empty results, errors, and interrupted tasks. Do not treat accessibility as a final visual review. It is part of the interaction model the system must preserve regardless of what it generates.
