Claude Code Became More Expensive at Night—Especially in Korea

Anthropic changed peak-time session-limit allocation on March 27, 2026. The weekly allowance stayed the same, but Korea Standard Time weekday nights now consume it faster.

On March 27, 2026, Anthropic changed how Claude peak-time session limits are allocated. The weekly total did not change, but use during weekday peak hours can deplete the allowance more quickly.

For people in South Korea, the timing is especially conspicuous: peak use falls between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. Korea Standard Time on weekdays. That window overlaps with the after-hours coding pattern of many developers, which helps explain the frustration.

The issue is not only the policy itself. Pricing and rate limits are experienced through local time, work culture, and habits. A nominally equal weekly allowance can feel materially different when the most convenient hours for a region carry a higher effective cost.
