Conversation is like playing catch. A question is a ball thrown toward someone; a reply is not merely a turn to speak, but a sign that the ball was received.
When people stop listening, asking follow-up questions, or showing curiosity, a conversation becomes tiring even if it remains technically polite. Empathy and consideration are not decorative extras. They are the conditions that make exchange possible.
Good conversation does not mean agreeing with everything. It means staying present enough to understand what was actually said, responding to it, and giving the other person something they can hold onto in return.
